I was browsing around Wikipedia a bit today, and discovered entries for Roselle Park, where I grew up, and Somerville, where I live now. Of course, San Diego has an entry too, as does Comic-Con and Horton Plaza.

under the weather
I’m feeling a bit under the weather today. I’m hoping I feel better by Monday, since it’s likely to be a hectic week at work. I guess it was a good day to feel a bit bad, since the weather was pretty bleak anyway.
I finished watching the first season of 24 today. I bought the DVD set off eBay a few weeks ago. I’m kind of hooked on it now. I have the season two set waiting, and I’ll probably pick up season three at some point. (I’ve seen the last two seasons on regular old TV, so I don’t think I’ll pick up any DVDs past season three.)
I had been thinking about going to Wizard World Philly today, but just didn’t feel up to it. I walked across the street to the local comic book store instead. I actually didn’t buy anything, but I was seriously thinking about picking up the first few issues of Warren Ellis’ new Marvel series Nextwave. I’ve heard good things about it.
Tomorrow is the Somerville Street Fair. I’ll probably have to avoid the gyros and other tasty treats, if I’m still feeling off. I’m hoping at least that it doesn’t rain, so everybody else can have some fun, even if I’m mostly lounging on the couch drinking herbal tea.
Well, it had been a while since I blogged, so I let this entry become a bit of a ramble. Hope I didn’t bore anybody.
Water
It looks like I can drink water from my tap again. Yay!
Local Blog
There’s a bunch of local Somerset County stuff in this guy’s blog. I never really thought to look for local blogs, but there are probably a few more out there.
Somerville Stuff
There’s some interesting historical stuff in this PDF file at the Somerville web site. Apparently, the police department used to be a beer distribution warehouse, and the fire house on Division St. has been there since 1896.
bongos
I just got home from work, and there are four guys across the street from my apartment playing bongo drums. Just sitting there, playing bongos. Poorly. I’m starting to think I need to move out to a nice rural area somewhere…
Tour of Somerville
Well, we had a rainy Tour of Somerville today. It was still fun to watch. Jonas Carney came in second this year, breaking his five-year winning streak. The winner was some guy named Viktor Rapinski, I think.
drums
For some strange reason, someone is playing drums outside my window.
Rain
Another rainy day in Somerville, so no street fair today. Darn. I bought the Sunday New York Times to keep myself entertained. And I took a little trip to Borders to pick up the new Led Zep CD.
News of the Weird
From the most recent News of the Weird:
Officials at Somerville (N.J.) High School warned students in October to stop trying to get high by choking each other into unconsciousness. (With the so-called “California Knockout,” a student holds his breath for 10 seconds to get light-headed, after which a pal squeezes his neck to put him out.)
Go Somerville!
