Warren Zevon
Today, my favorite Warren Zevon song is “Numb as a Statue” from The Wind.
Life’ll Kill Ya
I’ve been obsessing a bit over the last song on Life’ll Kill Ya, “Don’t Let Us Get Sick.” It’s a pretty simple song, but it’s really powerful. at least it is to me right now. It seems dark and pessimistic at first, but there’s a ray of hope at the end.
Warren Zevon
I started listening to Warren Zevon’s Life’ll Kill Ya a few days ago. I initially assumed this was written not long after he found out he had cancer, but apparently not. This album came out in 2000, and he didn’t find out about the cancer until 2002. Still, he seems to be thinking about death a lot here. “Requiscat in Pace.”
mix tape
Very nice mixtape posted here — all legally downloadable.

Worst Album Covers
Worst Album Covers Ever and Worster Album Covers Ever II both contain some great stuff.
Strange Music
Lots of strange music news over the last week or so. I just stumbled across AudioLunchbox, which should be opening on Oct. 31. They have a little jukebox app working already, though, and I’m listening to Steve Earle’s version of Elvis Costello’s Peace, Love, and Understanding right now. Groovy.
Emusic
Emusic has been sold and is going to discontinue unlimited downloads, instead offering 40 songs a month for $10. Still a pretty good deal, if you can find 40 songs a month that you like. I’ve always wondered how they could stay in business while offering unlimited downloads. There’s some additional information about this, and about other online music news, here. Also, iTunes for Windows should be announced next week.
