I’ve finally started playing around with podcasts.
Software:
– iPodder – Free, simple. Integrates with iTunes.
Sounds:
– Superburst Mixtape from Warren Ellis.
– Insomnia Radio
I’m sure there’s plenty of other good stuff out there. Just more good music to listen to in the car!

Good songs
Two songs that got me through the day:
(1) Nina Gordon’s cover of “Straight out of Compton”.
(2) Nerdy Girl by Dealership.
Guitar Wolf
Nice page on Guitar Wolf. There’s some really funny stuff in the interview they did with Seiji.
orbit service
orbit service: Another pretty good band I’ve stumbled across in the last few days. Kind of moody.
Austin City Limits
I’ve just discovered that there are good, Tivo-worthy things on Austin City Limits. There’s a Pixies episode coming up, and another with Wilco and Bright Eyes. I’ve got the Tivo set to record both of them now. I see a lot of other episodes this season that might be interesting: Trey Anastasio, Robert Randolph, Elvis Costello, and a few others.
El Ten Eleven
dealership
These guys are fun. MP3s here, and a fairly clever video here.
my own “best of 2004” list
Since I’ve been linking to a bunch of other people’s “best of” lists, I thought I’d make one up myself. I can’t quite think of 10 CDs to put on it, though, so it’s not a top 10 list. In no particular order:
- U2 – How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
- Wilco – A Ghost is Born
- Phish – Undermind
- Ted Leo – Shake the Sheets
- Chris Whitley – War Crime Blues
- Silkworm – It’ll Be Cool
- Rum Diary – Posions That Save Lives
- Ryuichi Sakamoto – Chasm
I’m not 100% sure that all of those albums were released in 2004, but I think they were.
I know that there were a lot of good albums in 2004 that I completely missed. Hopefully, I’ll catch up a bit in 2005. I’m just starting to listen to Arcade Fire and the Unicorns, for instance. And I haven’t picked up Brian Wilson’s Smile yet.
JENVILLE SHOW: John Vanderslice
John Vanderslice’s puttanesca. I may have to try making this some day. The rest of this site is pretty nifty, too.
Arcade Fire
There’s some Arcade Fire live MP3s at this site. I’m just starting to get into these guys.
