NPR’s Best Music of 2004 — yet another best of 2004 list.

Mixtaper
Yet more best of 2004 lists! (I don’t know why I’m so interested in “best of” lists this year, but I am.)
Drive-By Truckers
I was poking around at Amazon today, and I noticed that Gangstabilly, the Drive-By Truckers album with “The Living Bubba”, and a few other classics, is being re-released on January 25, re-mastered and with new liner notes. Mark your calendar!
Hoover’s G-String
These guys are fun. Any band that writes a song about Tommy Keene has got to be OK. They’ve got a song called “Jersey Turnpike” too.
Danielia Cotton
I just started listening to Danielia Cotton. She’s nice. Good guitar, good voice.
The Living Bubba
I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately. Here’s an article from Paste Magazine explaining it all.
Led Zeppelin: The Complete Studio Recordings
Only $59.90 from yourmusic.com. $116.99 from Amazon. Not available at all on iTunes. Tempting. I could toss out all my old Lep Zep cassettes, and legally own all the old albums on CD.

WXPN
XPN’s 885 greatest songs. There’s some interesting stuff in there, amongst the more obvious entries.
Hear N Aid
Going through some old casettes today, I happened upon my copy of Hear N Aid. Now that they’ve created a new version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, isn’t it time for a new version of “Stars”? I’m certain it is.
