Good bands
A couple of good bands I’ve heard on podcasts recently:
Cool Waters Band
The Thieves
Silkworm
I just found out that Michael Dahlquist, drummer for Silkworm was killed in an auto accident a couple of weeks ago. To quote from their web site, “While stopped at a traffic signal, his car was struck intentionally by another car traveling at a very high speed. Also killed were his good friends and fellow musicians Douglas Meis and John Glick.” These guys were a great band, and Michael was a great drummer. It’s horrible to think that someone would just randomly crash into a stranger’s car at high speed like that.
COHEED AND CAMBRIA
Wow. I was just checking out the web site for Coheed And Cambria, and they’ve got a note up that they’re going to have a booth at Comic-Con. And they’re playing two shows in S.D. during the con. That’s just too cool.
RadioTime
RadioTime: looks like an interesting thing. Maybe a way to listen to oddball stuff like Jonesy’s Jukebox and New Sounds in the car?
Leonard Rocks!
I’m really enjoying Leonard. Nice loud stuff with some good guitar work.
iTunes silliness
The new Ryan Adams CD is $10.99 at Amazon.com, but $17.99 at iTunes.
Kasino
Kasino.co.uk — These guys are pretty good. They’ve got a bunch of MP3s on their site.
SXSW
I finally got around to pulling all the songs I downloaded from the SXSW site into iTunes. 775 songs, just over 2 days worth of music. I’m really not sure how to approach listening to any of it. Just picking a few things at random, there seems to be a lot of good stuff in there.
Jonathan Coulton – Mandelbrot Set
I heard this song on a podcast yesterday, and just loved it. It really reminds me of RPI.
