Cowboy Bebop
I picked up the first 3 Cowboy Bebop DVDs over the weekend, and I’ve really been enjoying them. I just finished watching the second disc. I’ve been looking at the episode notes at Jazz Messengers after watching each episode. There’s some neat stuff in the “references” section for each ep. In particular, I’ve been following up on the musical references by searching EMusic for whatever artists/songs are mentioned. I’ve found a lot of great stuff this way.
BAAF/AXNY
Got back from BAAF/AXNY this morning. I saw two great movies: Cowboy Bebop and Millennium Actress. The dealer’s room was way too crowded, though. I didn’t buy a thing, mostly just because I couldn’t get near any of the tables. Oh well.
BAAF
Okay, things are just about back to normal now. No more big trips coming up. Just one little trip: BAAF, Labor Day weekend. I’m a little confused about the relationship between BAAF and AXNY. I guess I’ll have to read the web pages a little more carefully. Also, I’m trying to decide if I should stay in NYC on Friday or Saturday night. (I think I can still get a hotel room…)
Geocities
Is Geocities putting stuff at the bottom of this web page? When I look at the page source now, there’s a bunch of crap at the bottom of the page, after the /html.
commenting
I just took all the stuff related to the commenting system out of my blog template code. I can’t get to their website now, so maybe they’re gone. Either way, it seemed to be slowing things down.
Travel
Urk. Got back from San Diego Monday night. Now, I’m off to Toronto at 7:15am tomorrow. Nothing I like more than setting my alarm clock for 4am. San Diego was great, by the way.
Off to San Diego
Off to San Diego tomorrow! Yay! I just took a look at the Thursday and Friday schedules on the website, and my head almost exploded. It looks like there’s just way too much stuff going on this year.
This afternoon, I was thinking about taking my laptop with me, so I could get some work done in my spare time. Ha! That sure was a stupid idea.
CBG
I got a letter published in CBG #1499. Cool. That’s the first letter I’ve had published anywhere in quite a while. Of course, it’s also the first letter I’ve written in quite a while.
I’m an idiot.
I now have both my Dell laptop and my iBook hooked up to my Airport Base Station, using WEP. I had originally disabled it, because I thought the USR card on the Dell wasn’t compatible with the 40-bit WEP implementation on the Airport Base Station. The USR config software only had options for 64-bit and 128-bit WEP. Little did I know that 40-bit and 64-bit are the same thing. And little did I know that the Airport Admin utility has a menu option to convert the text password used by Airport into the hex key required by the USR software. This nice little article explained it all: Flying into Other AirPorts. Yay for TidBITS! They rule!
My efforts to get WEP running again were of course spurred by Sunday’s Doonesbury.
