Worst Album Covers Ever and Worster Album Covers Ever II both contain some great stuff.

Strange Music
Lots of strange music news over the last week or so. I just stumbled across AudioLunchbox, which should be opening on Oct. 31. They have a little jukebox app working already, though, and I’m listening to Steve Earle’s version of Elvis Costello’s Peace, Love, and Understanding right now. Groovy.
Emusic
Emusic has been sold and is going to discontinue unlimited downloads, instead offering 40 songs a month for $10. Still a pretty good deal, if you can find 40 songs a month that you like. I’ve always wondered how they could stay in business while offering unlimited downloads. There’s some additional information about this, and about other online music news, here. Also, iTunes for Windows should be announced next week.
emusic
I just downloaded about 6 CDs worth of stuff from Emusic, and pressed 3 CDs. That ought to be enough to keep me going for a week or two. The best of the batch is probably Us from Mull Historical Society. Always nice to hear good music coming out of Scotland.
Wesley Willis
Okay, it’s bugging me that no one I talk to seems to know who Wesley Willis was. They had a bit on him on NPR this morning, actually, so he’s getting some respect.
If you want to hear some samples of his music, look at this stuff:
And look here for some of his art.
For an hour or so of fun, type “Wesley Willis” into Google and see where it leads you. Say what you want, but here’s a guy who overcame mental illness and homelessness to become a recording artist with a major label contract (for a little while, at least).
[Update 10/30/2018: replaced some dead links.]
Wesley Willis
Wesley Willis died yesterday.
Robert Randolph
If you haven’t heard Robert Randolph, go listen. He’s good. The single from the new album is OK, but look for his live stuff. You can find some live MP3’s on his site.

Dave Gahan
You can listen to all of Dave Gahan’s new album at his web site, through a little Flash applet. It’s pretty good. Maybe I’ll pick it up from Apple’s music store, if it finds its way there. Or I could just capture the stream from the Flash applet with Ace-High on my PC, but that would be cheating.
Meanwhile, Is this the end of Netscape? Does it matter? How did they get through this article without once mentioning Mozilla?
