WonderCon aftermath

There’s an interesting Wondercon aftermath story up on Newsarama. They mention that the fire marshall closed down the show floor for a little while on Saturday afternoon. I managed to miss that entirely. I was upstairs at panels most of the day Saturday, so I guess that happened while I was listening to Kevin Smith or Grant Morrison or whatever.

yet more Wondercon stuff

Well, I’m pretty much done with the con now, back in my hotel room resting. The stack of comics I bought over the last few days is only about eight inches high, and largely consists of trade paperbacks bought at a discount, so it wasn’t a really expensive con for me.
For some local SF con coverage, look at the SFGate Culture Blog or this page at the Mercury News.

Infinite Crisis stuff

I’m still way behind in my comic-book reading, but I did read the trade paperback of The OMAC Project a few days ago, and I’ll probably be reading Day of Vengeance soon. I was just going to steer clear of this whole Infinite Crisis thing, but curiosity got the best of me when I saw the trades on the shelf at Midtown Comics. I’ll probably have to pick up the Infinite Crisis trade too, whenever that comes out. I’m still staying away from buying all the actual comics, though.

Superman Returns

Seeing the Superman Returns trailer yesterday brought back fond memories of the original Superman movie soundtrack. They used the original theme in the trailer; I’m not sure if they’ll be using the original John Williams music in the actual movie or not, but it would sure be nice if they did.

There’s a version of the soundtrack on iTunes by the Royal Scottish Orchestra instead of the LSO, by the way. I haven’t listened to enough of it to know if it’s better or worse than the original LSO version.

Jerome K Moore

I was thinking about Jerome Moore a few days back, while I was reading the Serenity comic. Specifically, I was thinking about how I’d love to see him do some Serenity art. Not that all those variant covers on Serenity were bad, but Jerome’s old Star Trek covers were great. Coincidentally, Dave’s Long Box has a little write-up on Jerome from a few days back. I agree wholeheartedly with pretty much everything he says there, and he even reproduces a couple of my favorite Trek covers.
