It’s time for another Somerville Memorial Day bike race, which is always fun. Unfortunately, my Dad is in the hospital again, though, so that makes everything a little less fun. Still, it’s shaping up to be a nice day.

Toshiba e310
The Toshiba e310 showed up at work yesterday, while I was off watching Star Wars in NYC. I just got finished setting things up. First problem: electricity! I’m definitely pushing it at this point, with about 12 devices all plugged in to the same wall socket. Well, a lot of them aren’t really on very often, so I’m probably OK. Second problem: Getting the darn thing to play nice with my PC. You’d think this wouldn’t be a problem, what with Microsoft being responsible for both sides of the connection. It appears somewhat stable at this point. I’ll have to keep my fingers crossed. Now, off to find some oddball freeware…

Toshiba e310
Ordered a Toshiba e310 Pocket PC from Amazon last night. Looks like it ought to be a good unit. I’m still happy with my Palm i705, but my company is starting a new handheld project, using Pocket PC devices instead of Palms, so I figured I should get myself one and figure out the OS. Maybe even do a little development myself. Of course, I’ve had NS Basic for the Palm since February, and I haven’t written anything useful with that yet, so I’m probably not going to find myself with enough time to do Pocket PC development either. Well, who knows. It could happen!
McCartney
Wow, I haven’t blogged in a while. Let’s see, what’s been happening…
McCartney was good. I went to North Carolina on business May 1-2. I’ve seen Spider-Man once so far, and will probably see it again next weekend. I’ve got my tickets for Episode 2, for Thursday 5/16, 3:45pm. (No 12:01 showing for me this time! I can’t stay up that late!) I should be pretty busy over the next couple of weeks. That’s about it.

Dad’s out of the hospital, my sore throat is almost gone, and I’m going to see Paul McCartney tomorrow in NYC. Life doesn’t suck.

Still trying to shake this virus I’ve got. Meanwhile, Dad’s still in the hospital. Hopefully, he’ll be out by the end of the week.
DNS Central
The switchover of my domain name to DNS Central is complete. This shouldn’t mean much to anyone but me, but hey, just thought I’d mention it. I’m still sick, too, in case anyone is interested. I’m also still going nuts bidding on old Fantastic Four issues on eBay. I’m keeping my bids low enough that I’m not winning every auction, so don’t worry about me going broke over this.
Sore throat and Fantastic Four
Right after I posted my last message, I started getting a sore throat. I barely got any sleep Tuesday night, then woke up Wednesday feeling horrible! Flu, I think. I took Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off from work, and I only worked a half-day today. And I had only been over my cold for about a week. I think I’m going to forget about any lofty goals I might have had for this year, and just shoot for staying healthy for more than a week at a time.
As long as I had so much time to myself, I got started with my FF 51-100 project mentioned below. I’ve got 4 issues in my hands now, another 7 on the way, and a few still waiting to see if I win them on eBay. I’ve also got the Marvel Masterworks volume with FF 1-10 on the way. I figure I can get 1-50 through Masterworks volumes, and get the original issues for 51-100. I’m trying to stay below $10/issue, and I’m doing OK on that so far, getting good reading copies. I’m hoping some of the old Masterworks volumes get reprinted at some point, since they seem to be going for anywhere from $40 to $100, or even more in some cases. It would be nice if I could pick them up for cover price.
