XPN’s 885 greatest songs. There’s some interesting stuff in there, amongst the more obvious entries.
Hear N Aid
Going through some old casettes today, I happened upon my copy of Hear N Aid. Now that they’ve created a new version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, isn’t it time for a new version of “Stars”? I’m certain it is.
Bands I’m Listening To
Here are some bands / people I’m listening to lately:
Keller Williams
Calexico
Dismemberment Plan
The Unicorns
…and, of course, the new U2 album.
Music from Iceland
I just discovered this guy. He’s from Iceland, and his name has funny symbols in it, and I think Blogger choked on them when I tried to include his name in this post. Regardless — very nice quiet guitar stuff. Reminds me a little of Robert Fripp.
Hacking the iPod
Here’s a nifty little HOW-TO on changing the iPod’s graphics. I really like their Hello Kitty screenshot. I’m tempted.
The Blind Boys of Alabama
I’m listening to Go Tell It On The Mountain right now, and it’s a great Christmas CD. Great guests, including Tom Waits, Robert Randolph, Richard Thompson, and John Medeski.
The Comic Book Periodic Table of the Elements
Insound Top 100 of 2004
I’m amazed at the number of artists in the Insound Top 100 of 2004 that I’m not familiar with. Just looking at the top 20, there are 10 artists I’ve never heard of. Apparently, I’m not listening to nearly enough music.
Fun iMix
The Heyday of WLIR — Here’s another great iTunes playlist with way too many songs on it. Lots of stuff I remember from the 80s and 90s. I heard most of this stuff on WHTG, not WLIR, but apparently they had very similar playlists.
Star Wars Stuff
N.J. Town Balks As Man Plans Giant ‘Star Wars’ Model
I don’t see any good reason why this guy shouldn’t be allowed to build a giant sandcrawler in his yard.
