Lots of stuff has been going on with my desktop computer over the last week. To make a long story short, I would up reformatting the drive, reinstalling XP, and reinstalling all my applications. Lots of work, but the thing’s mostly better now. I still can’t run chkdsk/f or Norton Disk Doctor without hosing things up, but I guess I can deal with that for a while.

pointless screwing around
I did a lot of pointless screwing around with the computers today. Drive defragging, virus scanning, software updating, that kind of thing. It’s relaxing.
AdSubtract
Hmmm, it looks like AdSubtract is subtracting the comment links from these Blog entries. I’ll have to look into that. (Adsubtract is nice, other than occasionally subtracting something it shouldn’t, like this.)
Windows 2000
I managed to upgrade my company’s Windows NT Primary Domain Controller to Win 2000 today. Went much more smoothly than I expected. Now I get to work on moving everything off it to a new server. As my Mom reminded me yesterday, at least I have a job, even if I have to work weekends occasionally.
PC Expo
Not much interesting to report from PC Expo this year.
Stuff that just wasn’t there this year:
- Dot-coms.
-
Linux.
-
Dell.
Stuff that was:
-
Palm, Handspring, and Pocket PC stuff. And lots of it.
-
Lots of wireless stuff — service providers, hardware, devices.
-
Ott-Lite. These guys make nifty lamps. Okay it doesn’t sound exciting, but really, they’re nice lamps.
