I may have blogged this page before. Even so, it’s worth plugging again. Lots of great old comic book covers!

Good bands
A couple of good bands I’ve heard on podcasts recently:
Cool Waters Band
The Thieves
New York Comic-Con
It looks like the new NYC Con is going to be February 24-26 next year. I’m interested, but there’s not much in way of details yet.
new phones
I’m kind of curious about the LG VX-8100 and Motorola E815, both of which I can get from Verizon. I’m not sure I really need a new phone, though.
Walter Reade Theater – Cartoons!
Cartoon musicals at the Walter Reade Theater this month. This looks like an amazing program. LOTS of great stuff. Also Red vs Blue on the big screen. Very cool.
Paranoia Agent
I started watching Paranoia Agent yesterday. I watched the first four episodes. So far, so good. It definitely feels like a Satoshi Kon creation. (That’s a good thing.) The structure of the show reminds me a bit of David Lapham’s Stray Bullets. Interconnected stories with a bunch of interconnected characters, with the focus shifting from episode to episode, while maintaining certain common threads throughout.
TiVo Developer Challenge
Nifty Java applications for TiVo. I may have to get a network adapter soon.
Puffy AmiYumi
Looks like Puffy AmiYumi will be playing in NYC on 8/18.
Silkworm
I just found out that Michael Dahlquist, drummer for Silkworm was killed in an auto accident a couple of weeks ago. To quote from their web site, “While stopped at a traffic signal, his car was struck intentionally by another car traveling at a very high speed. Also killed were his good friends and fellow musicians Douglas Meis and John Glick.” These guys were a great band, and Michael was a great drummer. It’s horrible to think that someone would just randomly crash into a stranger’s car at high speed like that.
Ramble
I took a walk through the Ramble in Central Park yesterday. I just stumbled into it, honestly, but it turned out to be pretty nifty.
Looking for some info on it today, I stumbled across Forgotten NY. Aside from some interesting info on Central Park, there’s also a lot of other stuff there.
